- vic.ciJul 15, 2020DiscussionHi Everyone, I married in January 2019. I quickly found my spouse was just using me for a visa to the UK, and he was actually having online relationships with other women. He obviously denies this. I ended the marriage in March 2019. Fast forward to now, he says he has done the divorce in Tunisia, but I've had no paperwork at all, I don't trust him either. Can I just do an online divorce here in the UK, so I know it's done from my side. I've spoken to a Tunisian lawyer and if he hasn't done it, it could prove tricky for me to do it there, and not to mention unsafe, for me to attend court when he will know where I am and when. Any advice on what's best to do. He has never had a visa to UK, thank God. I found out just after wedding he was a scammer! So we have never lived together. I've always been in UK, and he is in Tunisia. Thanks so much x0
- jis00031Jan 22, 2020QuestionHi I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I was in a relationship with a Gambian for 3 years, relationship moved very quickly and he didn’t inform me the he had no LTR until we moved in together. I became pregnant and he became controlling and subsequently, abusive, he was granted LTR in Nov 2018 for 30 months based on our relationship...the same week I received a black eye. I ended the relationship in April 2019, reported him to the polic, informed the HO the relationship was over and why in a detailed letter. I then found out he was claiming he was the victim of DV. I was interviewed by the police and no action was taken. I have written numerous letters to the HO detailing everything that this man has done since the relationship ended and have provided copies of all communication between myself and my ex as well as police ref numbers etc. I have received one reply in June/July which was telling me I had been removed as his sponsor and they’d decided not to curtail his LTR. He has been given access to Benefits as the Child Maintenance Service informed me due to him being required to only pay the minimum amount. I have been to a local MSP who was very patronising and got little done to highlight my concerns. At the beginning of December I made an official complaint to the HO and have had no response other than an automated acknowledgmen. I chased up this morning and received another automated response. The ombudsman advised time give it another week and they will then intervene if no response is received. We are now in the court process for contact with my child, I believe this is only to support an immigration application. No contact has been ordered as yet, the judge wants it to go to proof which is good for my side and means he has to prove his status. Is there anything else I should/could do? This guy has a colourful immigration history and his last application before meeting me was asylum which was rejected. I feel the HO knew he was a liar so why allow his next application to be approved!0
